About Hypothyroidism
The thyroid slows, dragging energy, mood, and metabolism down with it. Extreme cases were named myxedema in the 1870s. The leading cause worldwide is iodine deficiency, in rich countries autoimmune thyroiditis. Thyroid hormone replacement is the standard treatment.
