About Parkinsons Disease

Michael J Fox and Muhammad Ali brought awareness. The loss of dopamine-producing cells causes tremors, rigidity, and slowness. Levodopa, introduced in the late 1960s, remains the mainstay of treatment. Deep brain stimulation can reduce symptoms in selected patients. No treatment has yet been proven to slow the disease.
