About Thalassemia

Most common in Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian populations. Like sickle cell, provides some malaria resistance. Cooleys anemia is the severe form. Severe forms are managed with regular blood transfusions. Bone marrow transplant can be curative.
