About Dengue Fever

Called breakbone fever for the severe joint and muscle pain. Infects 390 million people annually. A second infection is often more severe due to antibody-dependent enhancement. WHO recommends the QDenga vaccine only for ages 6 to 16 in high-transmission areas; the older Dengvaxia vaccine was limited to people with a confirmed past infection and has been discontinued. Ibuprofen and aspirin should be avoided as they raise bleeding risk. Climate change is expanding the mosquito range.
